I maintain two other blogs...okay--I barely maintain two other blogs...so this poor leetle vox blog got ignored. Okay, forgotten. It would have been handy to to rant about my recent fall out and then fall in with my mom. She reads my other blogs, but she doesn't know about this one. Shhhhh.
Life is very crazy right now, This is the first year I am activily homeschooling. Mic is 6 going on 7 and is doing first grade course work. I barely have time to knit and blog. But it's worth it. Soemtimes it's very frustrating. Mic is a very goofy boy and doesn't enjoy seat work. He thinks the world woudl be fine with him writing letters and list in pictograph. "Sorry but we are NOT in ancient Egypt. YOU have to learn to write your letters." Much of school is a give and take--you do this and then you can do this! I am finding some time to knit, but no time to design. However, I got bit by a knittign bunny, so maybe I can try working on a little something in my spare time.
Right now my Mother isn't talking to her siblings and is barely talking to her Mother because of their racism...against blacks. My sister dates black men, exclusively....cool....but my grandmother and aunt and uncle and cousins thinks she's betraying her race. Anyway...yea Mom. I am glad she was able grow beyond her upbringing.
Then in the next breath after she rants about her family, she begins to complain that all the foreigners in D.C. who "don't bother to learn or speak English" makes her feel that she's living in a foreign country (and she doesn't mean it in the nice way either). She's convinced that the nice Muslim family down the hall are terrorists, that the Hispanics in that other neighborhood are driving down the housing prices (which you would think she would be happy about since D.C. housing is over-inflated anyway), and don't get her started on the Asians. Why can't every one just speak English!!!
I have to hear this kind of shit daily. It drives me nuts. She thinks her family is so terrible and rascist, but she denies it in her own personal feelings.
I am not sure how it follows that she raised me. Somehow I was brought up not to judge people based on race, but on individual action. Sure it's hard to keep to the creed, because it is human nature to judge somewhat. Yeah, I admit if I see a guy dressed in gang colors and clothes, I will cross the street and my heart races. But still I try to not to lay any judgments down. And I pray that I won't turn into my Mom.

My dad when I was six or seven. I learned on a volcanic rock gravel road in Flagstaff, Arizona. I learned quick, aftr picking gravel out of my knees and elbows, NOT to fall down. I LOVED my first bike. It's was a boys bike, but it was GOLD. Being the Cyndi Lauper wanna be that I was I was all into the glitz and glam. You could take the pink and white banana seat bike with a cheap platic basket. I HAD a golden bike...I was a princess!
I eventually got that pink and white bike, but I barely remember it.
My second favourite bike was the one I had a teen. It was blue and it had three speeds. Just enough--a 10 speed is just confusing. It also had a headlight that was powered by the spinning of the front wheel. I don't know what happened to that bike. I miss that bike. It was perfect.

Every year I enter Nanowrimo in November...I have yet to finish. Although this year I did get over a 1,000 words. The first year I tried to combat my writers block by creating a blog just for it...I called it Writer's BLOCK. It didn't really help. I also try music--that gets my creative juices flowing.
I've been battling writer's block for over 6 years. Ever since my friends and I wrote our infamous (in our own circle) An Sceal based on not so real life adventures of rock stars. It was a work of genius, but things started coming true and naturally we freaked out. AND I haven't been able to write anything decent since then.
I guess I am terrified of my "power" laughable as that is. If I write something negative will it happen and I can't just write nice stuff because that's boring.

I did a fantastic impression of Superman when I flew over the handle bars of my bike--fracturing my wrist. I also got a neat little scar on my chin from a teeny pebble that helped cushion my landing.
